How we build a robust infrastructure for the technology of tomorrow – the mission and role of PTS

The Swedish Post and Telecom Authority (PTS) is facing major changes. The agency is set to merge with the Agency for Digital Government (Digg), with the aim of accelerating Sweden’s digitalisation and strengthening the resilience of its digital infrastructure. New cybersecurity legislation is also in place to meet the requirements of the EU’s new directives, while the debate on greater digital sovereignty has intensified—driven by concerns about dependence on global tech giants.

How should Sweden prepare for accelerating technological development and the potential AI brings to the telecom and communications industry? What role do authorities such as PTS play as a regulatory force? How will the EU AI Act affect the telecom sector? And how do we ensure the ability to share data, modernise infrastructure, safeguard national security, and establish ethical guidelines - so we can build a sustainable and competitive digital future?

AI and the transition to next-generation mobile networks requires collaboration, investment and new capabilities

From AI-driven 5G to AI-native 6G, what will this technology shift mean for operators and society? How should the transition to an “agentic” way of working take place? What is required to achieve national and European digital sovereignty in AI and data storage? How can co-innovation and ecosystem partnerships drive progress? And what impact will quantum technology have on the telecom sector?

Partner showcase: Move Fast. Break Nothing. Trusted AI for Telco.

Dr Andy Lewis, AI Fellow at Pega, shows how telcos can move from idea to trusted AI in production in days — designing decision and workflow blueprints, building on a secure platform, and running governed AI at scale.
Live demo of a customer sales and service chatbot that can deliver commercially optimised and robust offers that are right for the customer, without the risk of the "lethal trifecta" of allowing an agent to access untrusted content, an external communication channel, and personal data.
