Nathalie Tocci is an Italian professor and author. She is Director of the Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) and Professor of the Practice at Johns Hopkins SAIS, she deals with European foreign policy, the Middle East and transatlantic relations. Tocci is former counsellor of international strategies to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini in 2014, and Special Advisor to the High Representatives of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini (2015-2019) and Josep Borrell (2020-2021), today Tocci is also professor at the School of Transnational Governance of the European University Institute, honorary professor at the University of Tübingen, Europe’s Futures fellow at the Institut für die Wissenschaften vom Menschen (IWM) and non-executive and independent director of Acea. Author of numerous scholarly papers, she frequently publishes commentary in the press, with regular editorials in Politico Europe and La Stampa, as well as being a regular guest on the BBC’s The Context.
